Follow-me Forwarding Features

Follow-Me in it's most simplistic form is a "Call Forwarding" feature. But, with more multi-forwarding options...

Follow-me Call Forwarding Phone Feature

Think of Follow-Me as a "Call Forwarding" feature with souped up feature sets. Follow-me allows your desk / office extension to ring, then forward to a cell phone, or other location if not answered. It also allows for additional "Time scheduling" events to occur. But, ultimately - it's just a "Call Forwarding" feature.

Follow-me - webgui only set-up

Follow-Me is a webGUI only set-up and can be set-up by your PBX System Administrator on your Extension in the main system. Or, the extension user can be set-up in the user's webGUI if allowed by company polity.

Setting up Follow-Me rules

In the Extension set-up, your system administrator can enable and configure the Follow-Me options. The way Follow-Me works is you set-up the Default Destination.  From there you can fail-over to additional locations if you do not answer any of the preceding destinations.

The Follow-Me options are useful if you do not want to use the standard "Call Forwarding" options and prefer a more automated caller transition from desk to cell phone to (other location/extension) then to Voicemail options.

Follow-Me is a Permanent Rule

Follow-Me is a more "Permanent Rule-set". Unlike Call forwarding, where you enable / disable Call Forwarding as needed on a "manual" temporary use function.

Follow-Me is more of a permanent and persistent forwarding rule.

Follow-Me can also allow for a simple message: "Please Wait, while we located your party." As callers wait, after hearing that message, you can designate whether to use a default "Ring Back Tone", or a different "Music on Hold" set they can listen to.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Follow-Me, when using two or three fail-over locations may take some time before VoiceMail kicks in. However, if forwarding to a 'Mobile Phone' OR other location with VoiceMail enabled - if "Ring time" is set too high - the "Fail-over" location VoiceMail can kick in vs. internal user's Vmail captures the call.

IE: The caller may end up in a different Vmail box than you intended. So, keep fail-over "Ring time" and Vmail boxes in the chain in mind.
